Advanced First Aid Training Courses

Course Outline:

Our Advanced First Aid Training Course is designed to train personnel in how to respond to First Aid emergencies that may happen at home, in the office or anywhere in daily life.

This course is taught by highly experienced emergency services instructors who have a strong background in Emergency Medical Response.

Many practical exercises are included as part of the training. The 4 day training course involves various practical activities and lessons.

This course is designed for First Aiders to manage patient care until the arrival of an Ambulance where medical assistance may be some distance away.

People and groups who should consider this level of first aid training are those who:

• have a specific ‘site’ First Aid responder function/role
• are required to have this training as part of their job and
• are responsible for operating first aid rooms
• wish to acquire further skills which may aid toward future employment or
• are interested in helping to promote the health and well being of the community

Course contents includes all content contained within Apply First Aid, Apply Advanced First Aid and Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques with the addition of:

• State and Territory legislation including risk assessment in line with OH&S legislation/regulations
• designing and setting up a first aid room/s
• management and maintenance of first aid rooms including resources and equipment, facilities and personnel
• management of first aid documentation and management procedures
• planning a response to a workplace incident
• role of the first aider
• medications
• manual handling
• workplace safety
• triage
• a major work incident scenario
• debriefing following a workplace incident

Theory & Practical Assessment

Apply advanced first aid HLTFA402B or recognised equivalent, achieved within the last 3 years (strictly applied) when delivered outside of the Occupational First Aid program
