Surface Operations Outline:
Standard 11 Mines Induction is the Standard for meeting the health and safety obligations in the coal mining industry in Queensland. Its purpose is to assist sites to establish and maintain a training systemthat delivers competent, safe and efficient work teams.
The Standard 11 Mine Induction course covers many of the safety requirements for working the Coal Industry and will assist people who are working or looking for work in the mines in Queensland.
After completing the course, participants will be required to
demonstrate how they can apply what they have learnt to a real
work situation. This is achieved by completing a Workplace
Assessment Book in mining work environment. On successful completion of both components of the course a Statement
of Attainment is issued for the following six nationally recognised units of competency:

Access and apply site safety procedures, apply personal safety
measures, maintain personal wellbeing, and complete site related
forms and reports - RIIOHS201A Work Safety and Follow OHS Policies and
Procedures - RIIERR205A Apply Initial Response First Aid
Assess the situation, apply basic first aid and complete incident
reports - RIICOM201A Communicate in the Workplace
Identify, access and use site communication equipment and
systems, carry out work related communication, and
complete written documentation
